Randy Nebel has been named vice president and mill manager of Weyerhaeuser Company's Pine Hill containerboard operation.
Nebel is a veteran papermaker and manager who led Weyerhaeuser's Valliant, Okla. containerboard operation for the past five years.
Prior to joining Weyerhaeuser's Springfield, Ore. containerboard mill in 1997, Nebel held technical, production and general management assignments at paper mills across the U.S. for such companies as Crown Zellerbach, James River, Georgia-Pacific and Gaylord. He has a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering from Montana State University.
As vice president and mill manager, Nebel is responsible for the daily operation, production and safety at the 450-employee Pine Hill containerboard operation which has the capacity to produce 870,000 tons annually of containerboard, the strong brown paper used in shipping boxes and other packaging.
Nebel reports to John Yerke, Weyerhaeuser's vice president for containerboard mills. Nebel succeeds Jeff Rake, who will continue at the Pine Hill containerboard operation as operations manager. The appointments were effective June 8.
Weyerhaeuser Company's Pine Hill operations also include an iLevel lumber operation, an iLevel Trus Joist veneer operation and timberlands offices. In all, Weyerhaeuser's Pine Hill complex employs more than 800 people in family-wage jobs and is the largest employer in Wilcox County.
Elsewhere in Alabama, Weyerhaeuser manages 588,000 acres of forest land, all certified to the Sustainable Forestry Initiative(tm) (SFI) standard, and operates an iLevel lumber operation in Millport, a Bardcor packaging operation in Huntsville, an iLevel building materials service center in Tuscumbia, and an iLevel Trus Joist(tm) engineered wood products operation near Evergreen.
