The project is slated for start-up in 2008 and will have an annual production capacity of more than 650 million square feet once fully operational.
Huber Engineered Woods LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the J.M. Huber Corp., plans to invest more than $200 million in an expansion of its oriented strand board (OSB) business in Emanuel County, N.C. The new plant will provide up to 150 new jobs in Emanuel County, one of Georgia's Tier 1 (economically disadvantaged) counties, and surrounding communities.
According to Andy Trott, president of Charlotte, N.C.,-based Huber Engineered Woods, the company selected the Emanuel County site in part due to the state and county's support of the project, its proximity to a sustainable wood supply, excellent transportation and services infrastructure, access to customers and a skilled labor pool.
The selection is subject to approval by Huber's board of directors. Once approved, the project is slated for start-up in 2008 and will have an annual production capacity of more than 650 million square feet once fully operational.
